A little about us
Valericain Press was founded in 2021 as a home for the publication of the books of Chris Towndrow. Since 2012, Chris has published a dozen books in a variety of genres. You can find his website here.
In 2023 we published a compilation of Victorian poetry, which was collated and transcribed by Chris. In 2024 we published the first book of Chrissie Harrison.
In 2025, having helped other authors with advice and experience gained over the previous 10+ years, it became clear that many writers were struggling on their self-publishing journey - they "didn't know what they didn't know". Additionally, some are frustrated by the seeming impossibility of gaining a 'trad' publishing deal, or felt they weren't getting a good deal from small press setups or 'vanity' publishers.
There's another way.
We work with authors on book production & distribution, formatting, data management, launch & promotion, and other aspects within the challenging world of independent or self-publishing.
Valericain Press takes its name from a seaside town in northern France.
